Carnage Infestation of Evil Tank Top

Infestation of Evil was an early recording by Carnage from the late 1980s Stockholm death metal underground period, circulating primarily through cassette tape trading before the band released Dark Recollections in 1990. The material captured the band in a much rawer and more chaotic state, closer to the violent transition between extreme thrash and the first true wave of Swedish death metal.

The recording carried the filthy guitar tone, primitive brutality, and damp rehearsal-room atmosphere that would later become associated with the classic Stockholm sound. Even at this early stage, Carnage already sounded darker and heavier than many of their contemporaries, with riffs soaked in distortion and vocals buried beneath layers of grime and tape hiss.

Infestation of Evil is important historically because it documents the embryonic stage of the Swedish death metal movement before the sound became globally recognized through later landmark releases by bands like Dismember, Entombed, and Grave. The recording spread through underground tape trading networks across Europe and the United States, helping establish Carnage as one of the foundational cult names of the scene despite the band’s short existence.
